Six Years, One Dream: Making AI Accessible and Impactful For Cameroonians, By Cameroonians.

A few years ago, a simple need sparked a movement—a Cameroonian student in search of community and connection with people who understood the extra hurdles of being an International student, often from a francophone background, trying to make it in tech and AI.

From that spark, CamerAI was born—a community of Cameroonians of the Diaspora in Tech and AI.

Today, six years later, we’re nearly 300 members strong, quietly but powerfully mentoring, guiding, and uplifting each other. We’ve supported each other through landing internships and jobs, acing interviews, overcoming self-doubt, and growing into Tech and AI leaders across the globe. What started as a small support system has become a lifeline and a Strong Impactful community of doers and believers.

Believers in the power of community, in the strength of coming together to impact meaningful change and motivating each other to aspire and strive for better and bigger.

And now, for the first time, our collective impact has been felt back home in a big way. Thanks to the generosity of members within this very community,

We’ve raised enough funds to sponsor about 50 students from across Cameroon to travel to Douala and attend the country’s top AI conference—IndabaX Cameroon, a subchapter of the prestigious Deep Learning Indaba Africa All Expenses Paid.

This is no small thing. It’s a statement that Cameroonian voices belong in the AI revolution.
That AI should not stand for Advancing Inequality as rightly resonated in the Global AI summit on Africa—but for Accessible Impact. #GAIS2025 That we are not just consumers of technology—we are creators, contributors, and changemakers, helping to build the next generation of AI solutions that cater to our unique socio-cultural and linguistics needs.

This community is everything many of us once wished we had—and today, we’re building it together. To every single person who has been part of this journey—whether you joined yesterday or six years ago—Thank you.

Thank you for believing in this vision.

Thank you for showing up, for lifting others, for living the spirit of Ubuntu and “on est ensemble.” This is just the beginning.

With love and pride,
The CamerAI Team.
