In this article, I explore the evolving landscape of cybersecurity in Cameroon and propose that the country could benefit from adopting a model similar to India's Cyber Commandos to strengthen its digital defenses. I examine the current state of cybersecurity in Cameroon, highlighting the challenges faced by the government, businesses, and individuals in securing sensitive data and online infrastructure. By comparing Cameroon’s approach with India’s success in building a robust cybersecurity force, I analyze the potential advantages of implementing specialized cyber units that could effectively combat cyber threats in the country.

I delve into India’s Cyber Commandos model, detailing how it has helped the nation safeguard critical infrastructure, respond to cyber threats, and foster digital resilience. Drawing on India’s experience, I propose a tailored approach for Cameroon to address its unique cybersecurity challenges, from establishing specialized training programs to building strategic partnerships with international cybersecurity bodies. This article serves as both a critique of the current state of Cameroon’s cybersecurity and a blueprint for the future, urging the government and relevant stakeholders to take proactive measures in strengthening the country’s defense against increasingly sophisticated cyber-attacks.
